Snow
Snow is an amazing substance. I’ve not yet grown tired of it and the change of lifestyle that follows. I’m currently admiring the large flakes that are falling outside my window. I enjoy how it visually transforms the landscape and leaves virtually no trace of its presence when melted. Now is there a way to use that in my work? I don’t know, but it is an interesting thought.
Accidents and New Possibilities
I accidentally deleted about 130 images I shot over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was a stupid oversight on my part while I was trying to copy them to my computer. I attempted to retrieve them earlier today with strange results. When I looked at the recovered thumbnails, I felt far less excited about them than I had at the time. I was resigned to give up on them, but once I looked closer there was something a bit more interesting about them. I realized that most were corrupted, but somehow a few became more beautiful as corrupt files. I don’t know if this accident will lead to anything, but it does make me consider how attached I should be to any group of images. Luckily, I shot quite a bit and there are plenty more in the series that I am excited about.
New Idea
The idea of a blog is something new for me. I’m not one for diaries or journals, so this will hopefully be something more interesting and directed than those. I hope to focus on what I am doing and thinking, as well as work that inspires me. I will also be updating my website with new images (and possibly a modified layout) very soon.
